Healthy Families Program

Healthy Families provides low cost insurance that provides health, dental, and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance today and do not qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT A CHANGE IN THE HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM

All children enrolled in the Healthy Families Program will move to the Medi-Cal Program. This is due to a change in state law. The children’s coverage will move to Medi-Cal in groups starting no sooner than January 2013 and continue through 2013. Children enrolled in Healthy Families will not lose any health, dental, or vision coverage when they change to Medi-Cal. If your child is enrolled in the Healthy Families Program you will receive more information.

If your child needs health care coverage now, we encourage you to apply. The Healthy Families Program is still open.

How will Healthy Families provide health care for my child?

When you enroll your child in Healthy Families, you choose the health, dental, and vision insurance plans. The plans provide the health, dental, and vision coverage for your child. This insurance pays most of your child’s costs for visits to doctors, dentists, eye doctors, and specialists. The insurance plans also contract with clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and hospitals for your child's health care.
